How do notifications work?
The Inbox, what Plya tells you about, and which notifications also come by email.
- notifications
- inbox
- unsubscribe
- alerts
Plya tells you when something happens to your invoices or your Stripe account. It tells the studio's owner and admins, except the person who did it.
What Plya tells you about
| Notification | When | Email to start |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice paid | A client pays an invoice, or someone in your studio marks one paid | On |
| Bank payment started | A client pays by bank, which takes a few days to clear | Off |
| Payment failed | A client's payment doesn't go through | On |
| Invoice overdue | The morning after an unpaid invoice's due date | On |
| Invoice opened | The first time a client opens an invoice | Off |
| Stripe approved | Stripe approves your account and clients can pay online | On |
| Stripe needs details | Stripe needs more from you to keep payments on | On |
The Inbox
Inbox sits at the bottom of the sidebar, above Settings. A yellow number shows how many you haven't read. With the sidebar collapsed, it's a yellow dot.
- Click Inbox to see your notifications, newest first.
- Click one to open its invoice, or Finance for a Stripe notification. It's marked read.
- Mark all read clears the number.
- Drag an invoice's notification onto a canvas to add the invoice's card there.
When a notification arrives while you're in Plya, a message pops up at the bottom of the screen with Open, and anything showing that invoice updates right away. A paid invoice turns Paid in every list, card and peek.
On a phone, open the menu at the top left and tap Inbox. It opens from the bottom of the screen.
Notifications also come to your account email, for the ones that are on. Change them in Settings → Notifications. Each switch saves as you flip it. The Inbox always shows every notification.
Every notification email has a link at the bottom to turn off that kind of email, and your mail app's Unsubscribe button does the same. Neither needs you to sign in. You can turn it back on from the page the link opens, or in Settings.
Overdue and opened-invoice emails go out once a day, in the morning (US time). The others go out as they happen.
Owners also see Your plan in Settings → Notifications, with Basic plan limit: the one email Plya sends the day after your studio first reaches a Basic limit. It's email only, so it never shows in the Inbox, and it has the same link at the bottom to turn it off.
