How do I import or download a note?
Turn a .txt, .md, .docx or .pdf file into a note, and download any note as Word, PDF or Markdown.
- notes
- import
- download
- export
- word
- markdown
Import a file as a note
- In Notes, click Import note, or choose Import a note from the ··· menu.
- Drop a file, or choose one: .txt, .md, .docx or .pdf.
- Check the title and word count in the preview.
- Click Import. The new note opens.
Tables in a Markdown or Word file come in as tables.
An imported file is a new note, so on Basic it counts toward the 10-note limit. Downloads always work.
The file is read on your computer. Only the images inside it are uploaded, up to 10 MB each.
Older Word files (.doc) can't be read. Open the file in Word or Pages and save it as .docx, then import it.
Download a note
- Open the note's ··· menu.
- Choose Download, then Word (.docx), PDF or Markdown.
A note's tables stay tables in all three. In Markdown, the first row is the table's header. Mentions come out as @Name.
Copy a note as plain text
Choose Copy as plain text in the note's ··· menu, then paste it anywhere. Each table row becomes one line with its cells apart by tabs, so a table pastes into a spreadsheet.
