Canvas troubleshooting

Each entry starts with what you see, then why it happens and what to do.

A card says "Missing record"Copy Anchor Link

• Cause: the record the card points at was deleted.
• Fix: select the card and press ⌫ to remove it. A task deleted by mistake comes back with Undo in the toast, right after you delete it. Projects and notes ask you to confirm first and can't be restored once deleted.

The save status says "Not saved"Copy Anchor Link

• Cause: a change couldn't reach Plya, usually because the connection dropped. Your change stays on the board.
• Fix: click Try again. If you closed the canvas first, a toast "A canvas change didn't save" offers Try again too. Plya warns you before you leave a page with unsaved changes.

A prompt says "Over the Basic projects limit."Copy Anchor Link

• Cause: your studio has more projects, notes or contacts than Basic includes, for example after a Studio plan ended. Adding to or linking records in that area is paused. The board still opens.
• Fix: click Archive down and archive records until you're at the limit, or click Upgrade to Studio. Then try again. See what the Basic plan includes.

"Uploading … it's over 50 MB"Copy Anchor Link

• Cause: files are limited to 50 MB each.
• Fix: compress the file, or link to it instead: paste its address to make a link card.

"Maximum file size is 10 MB" when I drop an imageCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: images and videos dropped on the board are limited to 10 MB.
• Fix: export a smaller version, or upload it with Add file to keep it as a file card (up to 50 MB).

A pasted link shows only the site's nameCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: the site didn't share a preview.
• Fix: nothing to fix. The link still works.

Shortcuts don't do anythingCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: shortcuts don't fire while you're typing, and canvas shortcuts work only on the canvas you're using.
• Fix: click empty space on the board first, then press the key.

Things jump into line when I move themCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: Snap and guides is on.
• Fix: hold ⌘ (Ctrl) while you drag, or turn it off in the canvas settings gear.

There are no lines between my cardsCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: Show links is off, or the records aren't linked.
• Fix: turn on Show links in the zoom menu, or link the records with the card's +.

I don't see Ash on this canvasCopy Anchor Link

• Cause: Ash's bar sits only on the home canvas.
• Fix: press ⌘ J, or click the Ask Ash button at the bottom right.
