How do project templates work?

A template is a list of phases, each with the status it sits in, a length and its tasks. Applying one to a project fills in its plan:

• The phases run end to end from the start date you pick, or from today.
• Each phase's tasks are added to the project and to that phase, with due dates counted from the phase's start.
• The first phase becomes current, which sets the project's status. An empty start or due date is filled from the plan.

In New project, pick one from Template at the top. The phases show on one line under it with the total length, such as Brief · Design & quote · Deposit & sign-off · Fabrication · Finishing · Delivery & install · 12 wk. While a template is picked, the status is set by its first phase.

Leave Template on None to start with an empty plan.

A project with no phases can take a template. Open the project's ··· menu and choose Apply template…, pick the template and the day it starts, then Apply template.

An empty project's Timeline tab offers the same step: choose Use a template.

A project that already has phases keeps them. Remove its phases first to apply a template.

Save a project as a templateCopy Anchor Link

Set a project's phases and tasks up the way you like, then choose Save as template in its ··· menu and name it. Each phase's length comes from its dates, and each task keeps its day in the phase. An undated phase saves as two weeks.

On the Projects page, open the ··· menu beside New project and choose Templates…. Your templates are listed first, then the sets Plya ships for what you make.

• New template starts one with a single phase.
• Rename a template, add phases and tasks, set each phase's status and length, and drag a phase by its handle to reorder it. Edits save as you make them.
• Each task has a day: the day of its phase it's due.
• Editing a set Plya ships saves your own copy, which takes its place in every list.
• Delete template removes it. Projects already made from it keep their phases and tasks.

On a phone, the list comes first. Tap a template to edit it.
