How do I create a project?

Start a project from the Projects page, the canvas or Ash, and fill in its details.

From the Projects page

  1. Go to Projects in the sidebar.
  2. Click New project at the top right, or a + New project tile at the end of a row. A tile in a status row starts the project with that status.
  3. Give it a Title. Everything else is optional: Labels, Status, Priority, Start date, Due date, Description, Client and Value.
  4. Click Create project. The project opens.

Basic includes 3 active projects. At the limit, New project opens the plan dialog. Archiving a project you've finished makes room, and archived projects don't count. A studio over the limit, for example after a Studio plan ends, can still open every project, and creating and editing wait until it archives down or upgrades. See how to archive or restore a project.

From the canvas

  • Right-click empty space and choose Add → Project…. The new project lands as a card where you clicked.
  • Or click the + on a contact or organization card and choose Project. The new project is linked to that person or organization.

From Ash

Ask Ash, for example "Start a project called Walnut dining table for Hauser, due December 1". Ash creates it and shows a chip to open it.

Fields

FieldTip
ClientPick a contact or organization, or type a name. You can create a new contact or organization right from the picker
ValueType an amount like 1,200
DatesThe due date has to come after the start date

Add a cover later from inside the project: Add cover.
