Launch deal: $18 for your first month, until Dec 5.

Less admin, more writing.

Know who still owes you for every gig, session and score. Plya keeps a working musician's bookings, gigs, sessions and scores in one place, with an invoice for each payer and what's still owed in Finance.

Free to start. No card needed.

One weekend, three payers. The couple paid the wedding balance by card a week before, the bar's cash is marked paid on the night, and Monday's session goes out on net 30. Finance keeps what you've collected this year and what's still owed.

The admin that comes with gigs, sessions and scores

A working musician is paid by many small payers on different clocks. The bar pays cash on the night, the couple pays before the wedding, the studio pays net 30, and the festival pays when it pays.

  • The gig that was supposed to pay on the night

One resort moved its bands to net 30, and they waited about 45 days for gigs that were meant to pay the day of the show.

  • Email runs the week

One full-time musician counts five to seven hours at the laptop on an admin day. The pitches, the offers and the advances all come in by email.

  • The contract is one line in a thread

A booker writes back, "Yes, we will pay you $300 for this gig." That line is often the whole agreement, and it's three replies deep.

  • Four jobs, four payers

A typical working musician holds three or four roles at once: gigs, sessions, writing, a few students. Each one pays on its own schedule.

Before the run

See what's left before the first show

A run is a project with a task for everything that happens before the first date: strings, the input list, the last confirmation. Today lists what's due across the run, next month's wedding and the score you're writing between shows.

Keep a score's cue list beside its delivery date

After the spotting session, a note linked to the film holds every cue in the trade's numbering, with the director's notes written under each one. Tick a cue when it's approved. A note's checklist stays in the note, so the delivery of stems and M&E goes in the project's Tasks with its date.

How notes work

Book a run of dates on one pipeline

Each venue is an organization on a Spring run pipeline, with its city on the card and the date and terms in its notes. Name the stages for how you book: Pitched, Offer in, Confirmed, Advanced. A pitch that's gone quiet shows its follow-up in red until you log the next one.

How outreach works

Tools for a working musician's year

Booking conferences, wedding season, festival dates and fall releases come around every year. Each one has a place in Plya.

  1. January to February

    APAP and NAMM

The presenters and agents from APAP in New York, and the people you met at NAMM, go in Network with where you met them and what they book.

  2. March to April

    SXSW and the summer run

The bookers you meet at SXSW go in Network. Pitch the summer's venues from one pipeline, each with its city on the card and its next follow-up dated.

  3. May to June

    Wedding season

Each couple's song list goes in a note linked to them: the prelude, the processional, the first dance and the last song of the night.

  4. July to August

    Festivals and the road

Advance every date. The input list, load-in time and parking for each show are tasks dated the week before.

  5. September to October

    Fall releases

A release is a project with its collaborators linked. A song pitched to Spotify at least seven days before release day reaches followers' Release Radar, so the pitch is a task dated a week out.

  6. November to December

    Holiday gigs

Holiday parties pay on the night or on net 30. Before the year closes, Finance shows what's collected and what's still owed, invoice by invoice.

Send the stage plot with every advance

Keep the stage plot and the input list in one note: the plot as an image, the inputs as a numbered list. Link it to each run's project, and download it as a PDF for every venue's advance. When the lineup changes, edit the note once.
